If you work on a ward, in A&E or at a health centre you know how this goes: the monthly rota comes out, you look at it a couple of times, you work out how many nights you have and when you get two days off in a row, and a week later you can no longer remember whether on the 17th you were on an afternoon shift or coming off a night.
Along the way there is a swap with a colleague, an extra shift you pick up at the last minute and a post-night day that almost never matches what you had written down. When somebody asks what you are doing at the weekend, you end up digging the photo of the rota out of your camera roll and pinching to zoom in on your row.
The problem is not that the rota is complicated. It is that it lives on a piece of paper and not in the place where you check the time forty times a day.
Your rota, the way you picture it
In Turna you create your own shift types — morning, afternoon, night, post-night, off, extra cover, on call — with the colour and the hours used on your unit. You define the pattern once and the app repeats it for as many months as you tell it, up to a whole year. If your unit runs a different cycle, you build it by hand in under a minute.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work if my rota changes every month?
Yes. You can paint month by month or generate the cycle and then correct the odd day they change on you. Changing a shift is just tapping the day again.
Can I mark the day after a night shift?
Yes. You create a shift type called "Post-night" with its own colour and, if you want, its own hours. You can also put two shifts on the same day when you double up.
Can I share the rota with a colleague?
Yes, and they do not need an account first. You create a link, send it to them, and when they open it they see your shifts next to theirs in the same calendar.
Does it count my hours and nights for the month?
Yes. Turna adds up your hours worked, separates the night hours (22:00 to 06:00) and the bank holiday ones, and if you enter your hourly rate it gives you an estimate for the month.
